Friesen’s Printing Revived Joyce Pallister-Bronsch’s Business

Posted on: December 19th, 2013

The floods in Alberta last spring caused tremendous loss, but the story of Joyce Pallister-Bronsch  is an example of the deep generosity shown in the aftermath of the storm. Joyce’s first husband Hank was extremely well known and loved in western Canada. In addition to writing for World of Beef magazine and Alberta Beef Magazine, he also started to write 3 books recounting the history of the west. After he passed away, Joyce finished writing his books and has sold them through various outlets in Alberta. Tragically, she lost every single one of Hank’s book’s in the flood.

Lingo and Lines

The editor of Alberta Beef Magazine, Garth McClintock, shared that Joyce poignantly wrote “I am out of business” in an email she sent to him. However, her printing company’s representative, Dana Fasco, talked with her boss about helping Joyce. Friesen then offered to reprint all three book titles–a total of over 1,000 books–at no charge! Thanks to the generosity of Friesen, Joyce is no longer out of business, and readers can continue to enjoy stories of western Canada’s history.
