Explore Alberta Parks annual official guide media kit

Explore_Morph

It was with great pleasure that we introduced the premiere edition of Explore Alberta Parks in March 2011.  In 2011, this well-known and respected magazine evolved to incorporate all of Alberta’s provincial park system. “Explore” now provides our readers with important information about the parks and protected areas across all of Alberta, while maintaining many of he elements that made Explore Kananaskis Country so popular.

In the 2012 issue, further improvements are being planned. Readers will love the maps, the helpful editorials and compelling photos! The slightly smaller magazine format will make it easier for our distributors to display Explore Alberta Parks and our readers will continue to enjoy the large, user-friendly maps.

Explore Alberta Parks is published each spring and is read by an estimated 350,000 potential visitors to parks. 150,000 copies of this guide will be circulated commencing March 31, 2012. Readers will refer to it regularly for trip planning throughout the camping season, and even into the winter for planning the next year.

Our goals are to lure people to

the provincial parks and recreation areas and
encourage them to linger within Alberta by
engaging them in a rich park experience.

Magazine racks are used to distribute to outdoor enthusiasts and travellers at information centres, historic sites, attractions, museums, hotels, motels, family restaurants, the Calgary Airport, AMA, RV dealers & campgrounds, and select retailers such as Atmosphere, and Mountain Equipment Co-op stores, ski & bike shops, and the Calgary Farmers’ Market.
Several advertising opportunities are available; something for every budget. Ask us about our DMO Special. We provide destination marketing organizations with matching supportive editorial (receive a 2-page spread for the price of a full page ad). DMOs are then encouraged to apply through their TDR to further leverage their media buy with Travel Alberta support!

Suggested editorial for 2012 edition:

The people of Alberta are the proud stewards of nearly 500 provincially protected areas. The province of Alberta is committed to maintain and enhance these provincial treasures to ensure that they will be enjoyed now and for generations to follow.

Explore Alberta Parks provides an overview of parks and recreation areas within Alberta. In 2012, the 80th Anniversary of the provincial park system will be the overall theme. Another new feature promoted in the 2012 issue is the expansion of the online reservation service to include group camping.

As of 2011, province-wide programs like volunteers and our many inclusion programs will be featured. Resource management messages such as the mountain pine beetles, invasive plant species and forest fire fire control will also continue in 2012.

Campfire tips, safety messages about wildlife encounters and the roles of our parks staff and volunteers will all be part of the 2012 guide. As well, information about environmental education, Dark Sky Preserves, and our main event — Canada’s Parks Day.

Specific parks from across the province will be featured. For each park highlighted, readers will see at least one map, details about the park, a large compelling image and information on how to learn more.

Very few visitors parachute into the provincial parks!

Most travellers drive into Alberta’s outdoor playgrounds.
