From November 28 – January 1, downtown Canmore is featuring a variety of Christmas activities for the entire family. The festivities begin on November 28 when Canmore “lights up” downtown and provides firepits, marshmallows, music and more. Because downtown blocks will be competing from November 28 – December 24 for the title of “Best-Lit Block,” the light displays are sure to be spectacular.
Canmore is a great place to do your holiday shopping. Stores will have extended hours Thursdays-Saturdays until December 21. Kids have the special opportunity to shop at the kids-only Gingerbread House shop, where gifts only cost $10 or less.
Festive food is an traditional element of the holidays. You can enjoy breakfast with Santa on December 8, take a festive cooking class at the Paintbox Lodge November 28 – December 18, or participate in the Weekend Holiday Tastings on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from December 5 – January 1.
If you’re looking for some active pastimes, come skate with Santa on December 20 or participate on the Santa Fun Run on December 21. You can cheer for athletes at the International Paralympic Committee sanctioned Nordic skiing (Cross-country and Biathlon) World Cup event at the Canmore Nordic Centre December 9 – 17. If you want to enjoy the outdoors while you sit back and relax, then make your reservations for sleigh rides at Boundary Ranch December 22 – 31.
While you’re in town, participate in the downtown scavenger hunt through the end of December. Bring the kids to watch some of your favourite Christmas and Family movies in the Kids Christmas Village on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays November 28 – December 21. If you have a furry family member, check out the annual Christmas photos with Santa at the Mut Hut Pet Emporium on November 30. There’s lots more to do–make sure to look at the complete Christmas in Canmore Event Calendar.
