Photo Contest Awards Presentation

August 30, 2006:

Julian Ferreira, owner of The Camera Store located at 802 - 11th Ave SW in Calgary was pleased to host the first annual Experience the Mountain Parks Photo Contest Award Ceremony in his store on August 30, 2006.  Bob Harris and Steve Agar, the publishers of Experience the Mountain Parks were on hand to make the formal presentations.  Jerre Paquette, Editor of Experience the Mountain Parks was present as event photographer. And our Special Guest was Laurie Skreslet, the first Canadian to summit Mount Everest.  Laurie is one of the major sponsors of this contest – providing the Grand Prize Winner with a 2-Day Adventure Trek into the Canadian Rockies for two people. 

Other contest sponsors include:

• Julian Ferreira of The Camera Store who supplied three brand new Canon Digital Camera Outfits
• Steve Agar of CSM Media provided each winner with a large full colour mounted print of their own winning entry, and
• Kim Fraser of Storm Mountain Lodge, who provided Laurie Skreslet and our Grand Prize Winner each with 3 nights accommodations for their trek.

Our winners were:

• Grand Prize – Andrew Penner, Calgary, AB
• 2nd Place – Vic Panei, Calgary, AB
• 3rd Place – Trevor Osborn, Nelson, BC
• Honourable Mention – Ileana Nielsen, Calgary, AB

We hadn’t intended to award a prize for 4th place, but the image that Ileana submitted was an excellent shot – indeed perfect for our cover shot for 2007.  So we created a special prize for Ileana and her sons Christopher & Markus.
